Retrofitting Historical Bridges

Preserving historical infrastructure presents a unique engineering challenge: how to meet modern safety codes and load requirements without compromising the aesthetic and historical integrity of the structure.

In our recent project retrofitting the 19th-century Iron River Bridge, we utilized carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) wraps to strengthen the existing steel members. This solution was lightweight, non-intrusive, and invisible to the public eye.

The project required meticulous analysis of the original materials and construction techniques. By combining modern materials science with respect for historical engineering, we ensured the bridge will serve the community for another century.
